Paul George Shoe Reviews

Latest Paul George Model

Nike Paul George 6

  • React foam-based cushioning system
  • Very comfortable
  • Great traction
  • Cheap but functional materials on the upper
  • Price: $110

The PG 6 is dramatically different than the rest of the shoes in the PG line. Nike decided to switch out the full-length air Strobel of the PG 5 for a full-length slab of React foam. This might seem like a step backward on paper but, the shoe is surprisingly comfortable and plush. Aside from that, the shoe has decent lockdown features and lightweight synthetic materials along the upper.

Nike Paul George (PG) 6 Shoes

Paul George was as dominant as ever during the 2021-22 season, but couldn’t stay healthy. He averaged just around 25 ppg, 6 apg, 7 rpg with two steals. Paul George has always been one of the best two-way players in the NBA, and this season it was no different. Unfortunately though, between the mediocre performance of the Clippers and the reduced time on court, PG didn’t make the All-Star team.

We haven’t seen many pairs of PG’s on the NBA hardwood. PG’s are usually some of the more popular shoes among NBA players every year, but the new futuristic design of the 6 doesn’t seem to be sparking much interest. However, we have seen an early look at a pair of pink PG 6’s that might just turn it all around.

Nike Paul George (PG) 5 Shoes

The PG 5 features some “bad boy” features and other not so “not so bad boy features”. The traction is excellent, taken straight from the legendary Kobe 9. The cushion is more than decent thanks to the full-length air strobel, though it is not as plush as the Pg 4. Materials are on the cheaper side but performed well. The fit is another of the shoe’s stand-out features, reminiscent of another all-time great Kobe model, the Kobe V.

In Paul George’s second season with the Clippers, the versatile forward has continued his elite-level production on the court. George is averaging just around 24 ppg, 6 rbpg, and 6 apg, accompanied by his All-NBA level defense. He was named to the 2021 NBA Allstar team, where he was a reserve for Team LeBron and is top 20 in defensive efficiency.

This year’s PG model is once again one of the most popular models among NBA players and we have seen a ton of different PG 5 colorways around the league. George himself obviously has received a bunch of different PE’s, but we have also have seen him lace-up the PG 3 very consistently in 2021. This is not a huge surprise as the PG 3 is an excellent performance model.

Nike Paul George (PG) 4 Shoes

Overall, the Nike PG 4 is very solid. The PG 4 features upgrades in the cushion versus previous models, but the support and containment takes a hit because of it.

The $110 price point makes most people feel they’re getting a great shoe full of tech. For example, the PG 4’s tech specs are much more appealing than they are in the similarly priced Nike Zoom Freak 1

After an amazing, MVP caliber, 2018-19 season with OKC, Paul George signs with the Clippers, who immediately become contenders in the Western Conference. The Clippers had also landed the Klaw himself, Kawhi Leonard, just after winning an NBA title with the Toronto Raptors. Even though the season didn’t go exactly as the Clippers wanted, PG turned in another monster season averaging around 22 /5 / 5 .

One good thing about the shoes synthetic upper is that it allows for a ton of personalization. We saw an inordinate amount of colorways of the PG 4 around the league. PGs are one of the most popular models among NBA players and we got to see many versions of the PG 4 in 2020. We also saw way too many Gatorade models, which made the shoe feel more like a commercial at times.

Nike Paul George (PG) 3 Shoes

The PG 3 is an excellent model that needs some time to break-in. The ride provided by the PG 3 is reminiscent of the Kobe 6.

The Nike PG 3 won’t work for everyone, however. If you choose to go up 1/2 size for width or comfort reasons, you may end up with heel lockdown issues. But once you find the right fit for you, and the PG 3s are broken in, they offer great traction, excellent cushion, and a very solid experience overall.

Paul George also turned in an MVP-caliber season in these bad boys. George was named to the All NBA First team and ended up 3rd in the MVP race behind the Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the Beard, James Harden. He averaged a whopping 28 /8 / 4 and was also named to the, 2019 NBA Allstar team and to the NBA’s all Defensive 1st team. George would become a free agent at the end of the season, making him the hottest commodity of that seasons trade market.

The PG 3 showed up in a bunch of different colorways around the league. One of the most popular versions of the shoe was the NASA colorway. “These shoes are especially dedicated to young athletes who dream of flying high, whether they want to become professional athletes or astronauts” explained George regarding the NASA models. There were 3 versions of the NASA model, an orange and blue model, a blue and orange model, a white and gold version, and an all silver.

All colorways of the shoe feature the phrase “Don’t tell me the sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon”, a great inspiration to PG.

PG 3 Reviews

Nike PG3 Performance Review | Duke4005

Paul George is a beast – that much can NOT be debated. He may even be the MVP of the NBA. If so, will the shoes be the reason? Possibly. Welcome to the PG3 Performance Review coming in 5…4…3…2… Well, why wouldn’t little suction cups work? The PG3 traction stuck like glue on every surface and court I played on.

Nike Paul George (PG) 2 and 2.5 Shoes

The PG 2 was an improvement from the PG 1. The PG 2 is a really fun shoe to play in because it enhanced nearly every feature found on the PG 1.

The biggest upgrades were made to the cushion and traction. The front foot strap was eliminated, which isn’t a drawback and might even benefit wide footers.

The PG 2 was one of a series of Nike releases with really solid performance that hit the market for well under $150.

Paul George’s first season with OKC after 8 years in Indiana was pretty successful. He was an All-Star, he was named to the  All NBA 3rd team and OKC ended up with a 50 game winning season. George didn’t miss a beat from his Indiana days, averaging just about 22 / 6 / 3 and establishing himself as one of the teams key players. He also turned in some of his best highlights as a pro.

The PG 2 was a wonderful follow-up model to the PG 1. The PG 1 had been one of the most popular models in the NBA the prior season, and the PG 2 built upon that base. The 1 was so popular in fact, that a second revised model of the PG 2 was launched that featured the PG 1’s forefoot strap. At this point, the PG line felt like a dark horse success among the many signature lines in the NBA. In particular, the Play Station colorways were a favorite among fans and came in a white, a grey, a blue (PG 2,5), and a black colorway (PG 2).

PG 2.5 Reviews

The PG 2.5 includes the same exact tech specs as the PG 2, but re-incorporates the strap from the PG 1. This added feature provides enhanced lockdown and a pleasing aesthetic touch.

Nike Paul George (PG) 1 Shoes

The Nike PG 1, Paul George’s first signature shoe, is a very good model, especially if you want an “extension of your foot” fit for a reasonable price (these shoes retailed initially at $110).

The fit and containment are the critical features of the PG 1 that allow hooping without restriction. The solid rubber options are a better choice if you want to avoid any traction issues.

Nike’s PG 1 is a perfect blend of new and old with a mix of vintage and new age materials that give you the best of both worlds.

The 2016-17 season would be George’s last as a Pacer. It would also be the season where he would re-consolidate himself as one of the NBA’s best, a season after suffering a horrific injury while practicing with the US National team. This would be his second season being named to an NBA All-Star after said injury and he would finish the season averaging around 24 /7 / 3. People wondered if George would be able to return to his former dominating play, and after this season he would leave no doubt in anyone’s mind that he was one of the NBA’s elite.

Part of PG’s consolidation as a superstar was getting his own signature shoe with Nike. The shoe was a smash hit across the NBA. It immediately became one of the most popular models among players. It was an esthetically pleasing model as well as a versatile performer that would fit most players’ needs on the court. The PG 1 was also a fan favorite it was one of the more affordable signature models, and the synthetic build allowed for a plethora of colorways.
