10+ Best Running Shoes for Flat Feet

Best Running Shoes for Flat Feet

If you have flat feet or know someone with flat feet, you know the struggle. It’s close to impossible to find the best running shoes for flat feet. There just aren’t a lot of shoes out there made for that kind of feet, in part because arch support is not a focal point for most shoe companies. For flat-footers, this kind of support and overall containment in the midfoot is key to being safe while doing activities.

We’ve taken the time to test out shoes just for you so you can make your next purchase worth it. Last time, we created a list of the best basketball shoes for people with flat feet. Now it’s the runners’ turn! Check out our list below to find out the best running shoes for flat feet.

The 10+ Best Running Shoes for Runners with Flat Feet:

Hoka Clifton 9

Hoka Clifton 9

The Hoka Clifton 9 is the best, most versatile Clifton to date. It’s the same great neutral cushioned shoe with added bounce and elasticity in the midsole and increased durability in the outsole. The upper is, as usual, super comfy and the fit is accommodating. There’s also a wide version for those that need it. Improved arch support will excite flat footers, but some may find it a bit distracting. It’s a great shoe for everyone from beginners to seasoned vets and can handle jogging, easy running, recovery runs, and long runs. See the full review.

Asics Gel-Nimbus 25

Asics Gel-Nimbus 25

The Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 isn’t a snappy shoe, but there’s plenty of soft FF Blast+ cushion underfoot. That, alongside an absolutely luxuriously comfortable upper, means the Gel-Nimbus 25 is ready for a ton of road miles. We don’t recommend using it for any of your speed work, but you can churn out miles in the Gel-Nimbus 25 while saving your legs from harsh asphalt and roads.

As an added bonus, the foam flares out from the foot, creating an incredibly stable platform. Oh, and it’s built to accommodate tons of foot types. Wide-footers, flat-footers, and beginners (who are likely still figuring out what their feet are) will all find a shoe that works for them. And for wide-footers that need even more room, Asics sells an extra wide version that may be perfect for you. See the full review.

New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4

New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4

The New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4 is a comfortable, affordable, and excellently executed running shoe. The upper’s fit is super accommodating, and any foot shape will enjoy it, especially wide footers and flat footers. The Fresh Foam X feels great on foot for any amount of miles or household chores. The stability is great due to the midsole’s geometry and sitting inside the midsole walls. The lockdown is solid, so even narrow footers can be confident their foot will stay in place even on the sharpest of turns or bumpiest of roads. And the style — chunktastic is in these days, so this shoe will work as well casually as it does for running. Read the full review.

Saucony Endorphin Speed 3

Saucony Endorphin Speed 3

The Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 is a near-perfect everyday running shoe. It’s versatile enough to handle easy running, track work, tempo runs, and even races. The fit is excellent with impressive lockdown and stealthy but solid midfoot/arch support which works great for flat footers.

The PWRRUN PB in the midsole is both plush and bouncy. It’s a well-cushioned, long-lasting ride ideal for long distances. The only small issue is some slippage in wet conditions. But that can be easily overlooked because the Endorphin Speed 3 is comfortable top-to-bottom and a true do-everything running shoe. Read the full review.

Asics Gel Kayano 29

Asics Gel Kayano 29

The Asics Gel Kayano 29 is Asics’ flagship stability shoe, and it delivers top-of-class stability via the stiff foam LITETRUSS system that steps in to prevent moderate to severe overpronation. If you don’t need the motion control, it stays out of the way and allows you to maintain your natural footstrike. The LITETRUSS system also provides the arch support that most flat-footers love. Now, the cushion does take some time to break in, but once the FF Blast+ livens up, you get an extremely comfortable upper and a super durable outsole. On top of all that, the Kayano 29 comes in regular, 2E, and 4E widths for men and regular and D widths for women. Read the full review.

Nike React Infinity Run 3 Featured

Nike React Infinity Run 3

The Nike React Infinity Run 3 is a well-rounded shoe that can be your daily workhorse. The fit accommodates just about every foot type and provides some arch support but not enough to cause discomfort for most flat footers. The React midsole is plush and lasts a long time. The shoe’s rocker motion is smooth. Plus, the Flyknit is super comfy and molds to your foot. The lacing system isn’t the best but this shoe is an all-around good choice for flat footers because of its support and comfort. See the full review. Price: $160

New Balance FuelCell Propel v4

The New Balance FuelCell Propel v4 has the best value proposition of any shoe on the market. $110 for a bouncy Fuelcell midsole and a TPU plate? That alone raises my eyebrows.

The upper isn’t spectacular but it’s comfortable. There’s arch support that’s unobstrusive making it great for flat footers. The tongue can be slippy, it’s a little on the heavy side, and the traction is solid. Durability is a big question mark because there’s not a ton of rubber on the outsole and it wears down pretty fast. But, at $110, a price serviceable daily running shoes don’t touch anymore, sacrificing some durability and comfort is expected.

The end result is a shoe that’s perfect for a wide range of runners. It’s also great for cost-conscious parents that need solid running shoes for kids running track or cross country (and growing out of the shoes way too fast). I’d recommend the Propel v4 over Nike’s current Pegasus and several other $130-150 models. Watch Kofuzi’s review.

Hoka Arahi 6

Hoka Arahi 6

The Hoka Arahi 6 packs fantastic support without feeling invasive or annoying while offering plenty of room for wide footers. For wide footers that need a little extra support, you’ll have a hard time finding a better option. The cushioning is soft and responsive, exactly what you’d expect from a Hoka. It’s a versatile shoe that’s plush enough for long distances, light enough for short distances, and ready for the occasional fast workout. If you need support and width but want that neutral cushioned shoe feeling, the Arahi 6 offers exactly what you need.

Mizuno Wave Rebellion Flash

The price tag on the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Flash is a bit high at $150 but it’s your best bet for a speed day shoe from the current Mizuno lineup. It feels light on foot but still packs a ton of rubber on the outsole. And that outsole, in typical Mizuno fashion, hardly shows wear and is ready for the long haul. The upper, while comfy, does have a bit too much material in the toebox and a slippy tongue. Underfoot the Mizuno Enerzy Lite and TPU Wave plate make the shoe feel poppy, if slightly on the firm side. It’s also a good option for flat footers who don’t want much of an arch and wide footers who enjoy the Mizuno midsole geometry.

Brooks Glycerin 19

The Brooks Glycerin 19 is the most expensive daily trainer that the brand has to offer, and for good reason. They feature full-length DNA Loft which looks and feels super soft. They also surprisingly don’t bottom out as easily as other foam compounds. The traction is both durable and flexible. The outsole actually flares out so you can have a nice, stable ride every time you lace these up. And the insole cups the arch for added support in the midfoot. Read the full review. Price: $150

    1. Not all flat footers over pronate. They are sometimes related. Pronation is movement. Flat foot is structural. Over pronators should check out our list of best stability shoes.
