Best Running Shoes for Men

Best Running Shoes for Men

Running shoes for men aren’t that hard to find, but finding the best ones can be a difficult task. But first, why do we even need this list? Well, men’s running shoes tend to be wider and have larger size options than women’s. Men are also generally heavier due to overall muscle mass, so a lot more cushion and support are needed. Men also tend not to pronate as much as women, and support features have to be adjusted accordingly. With that being said, here are the Best Running Shoes for Men you can buy today.

Best Neutral Cushioned Running Shoes for Men

Asics Gel-Nimbus 25

Asics Gel-Nimbus 25

The Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 isn’t a snappy shoe, but there’s plenty of soft FF Blast+ cushion underfoot. That, alongside an absolutely luxuriously comfortable upper, means the Gel-Nimbus 25 is ready for a ton of road miles. We don’t recommend using it for any of your speed work, but you can churn out miles in the Gel-Nimbus 25 while saving your legs from harsh asphalt and roads.

As an added bonus, the foam flares out from the foot, creating an incredibly stable platform. Oh, and it’s built to accommodate tons of foot types. Wide-footers, flat-footers, and beginners (who are likely still figuring out what their feet are) will all find a shoe that works for them. And for wide-footers that need even more room, Asics sells an extra wide version that may be perfect for you. See the full review.

Puma Deviate Nitro 2

Puma Deviate Nitro 2

The Puma Deviate Nitro 2 is a great all-around running shoe with the only concern being a slightly narrow fit (with a wide version on the way). The Deviate Nitro 2 doesn’t have the initial step-in squish but feels amazing the more you run, and the faster you run. It’s a smooth ride with a cushion/plate combo that feels great during workouts and helps the legs recover quicker. The upper is extremely breathable and very comfortable. The outsole uses Puma Grip, the best rubber outsole compound currently available. You’ll feel 100% confident in the traction no matter the conditions. The Deviate Nitro 2 is one shoe that can do it all including all your training and races. See the full review.

Saucony Endorphin Speed 3

Saucony Endorphin Speed 3

The Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 is a near-perfect everyday running shoe. It’s versatile enough to handle easy running, track work, tempo runs, and even races. The fit is excellent with impressive lockdown and stealthy but solid midfoot/arch support. The PWRRUN PB in the midsole is both plush and bouncy. It’s a well-cushioned, long-lasting ride ideal for long distances. The only small issue is some slippage in wet conditions. But that can be easily overlooked because the Endorphin Speed 3 is comfortable top-to-bottom and a true do-everything running shoe. Read the full review.

Asics Novablast 3

Asics Novablast 3

The Asics Novablast 3 is close to the perfect running shoe. There are many reasons it currently sits atop our rankings as the best running shoe of 2022. The combination of bounce and impact protection provided by the FF Blast+ midsole makes this shoe an extremely comfortable daily trainer that can pick up the pace when needed. The Novablast 3 is also much more stable than you’d expect on a shoe this soft. In addition, the upper is breathable and comfortable, while the overall ride is super smooth. It also looks spectacular. The Novablast 3 is a great all-around shoe that most men will enjoy because the fantastic combo of plushness and bounce is perfect for larger frames. See the full review.

New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4

New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4

The New Balance Fresh Foam X More v4 is a comfortable, affordable, and excellently executed running shoe. The upper’s fit is super accommodating, and any foot shape will enjoy it, especially those hard-to-please wide footers and flat footers. The Fresh Foam X feels great on foot at any weight, for any amount of miles, or for any long list of household chores. The stability is great due to the midsole’s geometry and sitting inside the midsole walls. The lockdown is solid, so even narrow footers can be confident their foot will stay in place on the sharpest of turns or bumpiest of roads. And the style — well, chunktastic is in these days, so this shoe will work as well casually as it does for running. Read the full review.

New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Trainer

New Balance FuelCell SC Trainer

The New Balance FuelCell SuperComp Trainer is a high-stack neutral training shoe perfect for long runs and minimizing wear and tear on tired legs. It packs massive amounts of FuelCell cushioning underneath one of the best uppers of the year. The engineered knit upper is comfortable and accommodating to all foot types. And while it’s a bit heavy, the SC Trainer is more stable than a shoe this tall has any right to be. If you’re a guy that runs long distances often and wants to save your legs, especially if you’re bigger, taller, or heavier, the plush, bouncy midsole of the SC Trainer should be on your short list of great running options. Brooks Glycerin 20

Brooks Glycerin 20

The Brooks Glycerin 20 is a comfortable, breathable, and versatile daily running shoe. The DNA Loft v3 midsole is plush and can easily handle long runs. The ride is very smooth and easy on the legs. The traction is durable and doesn’t slip in any conditions. Just don’t get the StealthFit version because the upper on the regular version is much better fitting and more comfortable. Asics GlideRide 3

Asics GlideRide 3

The Asics GlideRide 3 is an impressive neutral running shoe. It’s soft as your foot lands and then provides a nice bounce as you push off into the next stride. The shape of the midsole makes the running motion super smooth and the way the midsole is built adds a lot more stability than you’d expect on a neutral shoe but it doesn’t feel restrictive. To top it off, the upper is super plush and comfortable. Running one mile in this shoe feels just as good as running 20. It’s just that good. Overall, the combination of comfort, cushion, stability, and an ultra-smooth ride make the GlideRide 3 a shoe you’ll want to wear every day. See the full review.

Nike React Infinity Run 3

Nike React Infinity Run 3

The Nike React Infinity Run 3 is a well-rounded shoe that can be your daily workhorse. The React midsole is plush and lasts a long time. The shoe’s rocker motion is smooth. The fit accommodates just about every foot type and you’ll feel more locked down in the heel than in previous versions. Plus, the Flyknit is super comfy and molds to your foot. The lacing system isn’t the best but this shoe is an all-around good choice as a running shoe that lasts. See the full review.

Hoka Clifton 8

The Hoka Clifton 8 puts comfort at the forefront. The foam midsole is plush underfoot while the upper rests nicely over the top of your feet to provide a comfortable fit that won’t leave you feeling suffocated or swimming in the shoe. The outsole is super thick so the cushion will last. An overall great shoe for most men. It’s also on the Best Hoka Running Shoes list.

Puma Velocity Nitro 2

Puma Velocity Nitro 2

The Puma Velocity Nitro 2 reminds us why we love supercritical foam. Nitro is used here and it feels a lot like Nike’s Zoom Air, especially in the forefoot. There’s a slab of EVA on the bottom for stabilization because the foam is just that bouncy. Puma Grip is used for the outsole and it’s the best rubber compound available. You won’t ever slip. nike-air-zoom-vomero-16

Nike Vomero 16

The Nike Vomero 16 is almost like a carbon copy of its predecessor, the Nike Vomero 15. They both combine three of Nike’s cushioning systems. The one right under your forefoot is Nike’s Zoom Air which provides a spring-like feel. Housing that is Nike’s ZoomX which adds more bounce to your step. Then we have the slightly firmer SR-02 that stabilizes everything so you don’t feel wobbly during your run. It’s the Cadillac of Nike running shoes.

Best Speed Day Running Shoes for Men

Hoka-Rincon-3

Hoka Rincon 3

The Hoka Rincon 3 is really really light. However, that doesn’t affect its cushioning. You still get plenty of cushy Hoka EVA under foot. The lightweight build works with Hoka’s meta rocker to really make the shoe glide. When you want to pick up the pace for a fast workout, the Rincon 3 can do it. It’s also one of the most stable speed day shoes currently available. See the full review.

Nike ZoomX Streakfly

Nike ZoomX Streakfly

The Nike ZoomX Streakfly isn’t as chunky as other ZoomX-based shoes, but that doesn’t mean they don’t pack beastly performance. The shoe is lightweight and breathable which makes running outside more bearable and enjoyable. The downside is that these aren’t as durable as other Nike running shoes. The flimsy materials can deter support but it’s a super fun shoe for speed workouts on the track or on the roads. See the full review.

adidas Takumi Sen 9

The adidas Adizero Takumi Sen 9 is basically an upgraded adidas Adizero Adios Pro 2 with less foam underfoot. Why did adidas make this shoe? Because when you’re running shorter distances, you don’t need as much impact protection. The Takumi Sen 9 is a great shoe for 5k and 10k races along with interval training and tempo work. If you want a racing shoe (and one of the best adidas running shoes overall) built for shorter road races that also performs amazingly in speed workouts, this is likely the best option on the market.

Asics Gel-Nimbus 24

The Asics Gel-Nimbus 24 uses full-length FFBlast+ foam for the midsole with an Asics Gel in the heel and forefoot (the one in the heel is for show). It wasn’t easy to feel the forefoot Gel, but if you do, you’ll have to decide whether or not you like it. Either way, we think you’ll feel comfortable wearing the Nimbus 24 as the upper and tongue and awesome. In addition, the outsole is extremely durable and will last you longer than most other running shoes. See the full review.

Puma Magnify Nitro

Puma Magnify Nitro

The Puma Magnify Nitro uses the brand’s Nitro foam but its implementation is different. The top layer is the Nitro foam and the bottom layer is ProFoam Lite. What this does is combine stability and plushness, a combo that’s difficult to achieve in any sport and in any cushioning. The heel counter is sizeable so you don’t have to worry about ankle tweaks or sprains. See the full review.

Brooks Glycerin 19

The Brooks Glycerin 19 works best for those who put more weight into their stride. The full-length DNA Loft foam can feel underwhelming for lighter guys, but for most, it gets better with every wear. Both narrow and wide footers will find the fit of the shoe accommodating. The midsole is exaggerated on the medial and lateral sides for optimal support. Also, it’s the perfect running shoe for most runners just starting out. See the full review.
